On May 18, 2026 the international TIDE seminar, funded by the European Union’s Erasmus+ program, officially opened in Hamburg. The event brought together representatives of partner universities and educational institutions to discuss prospects for cooperation in higher education, research, and innovation.

The seminar opened at the Hamburg University of Applied Sciences (HAW Hamburg), where the university’s Vice President warmly welcomed the participants. In his opening remarks, the Vice President emphasized the importance of international academic cooperation, knowledge exchange, and strengthening partnerships between universities in Europe and Central Asia within the Erasmus+ program.

The highlight of the first day was a presentation by Professor Dr. Martin Schulz, Vice President for Research and Technology Transfer at HAW Hamburg. From 10:00 to 11:00 AM, Professor Schultz held a presentation and discussion on the topic “Results of the Needs Analysis of Universities and the Ministry of Science, Higher Education, and Innovation of the Kyrgyz Republic”, based on a survey conducted among partner institutions.

During the session, participants discussed the identified needs and priorities of universities, focusing on institutional development, strengthening research capacity, digital transformation, and internationalization. The discussion provided valuable insights into the current challenges and opportunities facing higher education institutions and laid the foundation for further work within the TIDE project.

Representatives of Kyrgyz National University named after Jusup Balasagyn: E.J. Lailieva, D.S. Djumaliev, N.I. Akylbekova, and A.J. Parmanasova. Led by Rector Dogdurbek Chontoev, the TIDE project team actively participated in the seminar, contributing to the discussions and facilitating stronger international cooperation with European partners.

The TIDE project aims to support innovation, build academic capacity, and foster sustainable collaboration between universities and stakeholders in partner countries within the Erasmus+ program.
