On May 22, 2025 Rector of Kyrgyz National University named after J. Balasagyn, Professor Dogdurbek Chontoev met with a delegation from Keimyung University (Republic of Korea). The visit took place within the framework of the project on creation of a department of applied artificial intelligence at the Institute of Computer Technology and Artificial Intelligence of KNU.
Dogdurbek Chontoev noted that cooperation between universities will yield positive results for the education system of Kyrgyzstan:
The development of computer technology and artificial intelligence in education requires joint efforts. The experience of South Korean specialists will give a powerful impetus to the creation of modern textbooks for students.
Professor of Keimyung University Ju Hong-Taek thanked for the warm welcome and confirmed the readiness of the Korean side to provide technical support. He also noted that textbooks on artificial intelligence are already being developed in cooperation with KNU teachers.
During the meeting, an exchange of views and a discussion of areas for further cooperation took place.
After the meeting with the Rector, Professor of Keimyung University Mr. Joo Hong-Taek held a meeting with the faculty of the Institute of Computer Technology and Artificial Intelligence (ICTAI) and spoke about the LUPIC (Leading University for International Cooperation) project supported by the Government of the Republic of Korea. According to him, within the framework of this project, the purpose of which is to help universities in developing countries in training personnel using the advanced experience of Korean universities, a department of applied artificial intelligence will be opened at ICTAI. This requires modernization of curricula and strengthening of the institute’s human resources.
REFERENCE: Starting from the 2025-2026 academic year, elements of artificial intelligence will be introduced into all educational structures of KNU. The project is aimed at strengthening the scientific and educational potential of the university and training specialists in demand in the context of digital transformation.
