Professor Dogdurbek Chontoev, Rector of Kyrgyz National University named after Jusup Balasagyn, paid a working visit to Germany from May 18 to 22, 2026, as part of the “Digital Transformation for Inclusive Doctoral Education in Kyrgyzstan” project (D-TIDE-KG), funded by the European Union under the Erasmus+ program.
On May 18-19, he participated in an international seminar held at the Hamburg University of Applied Sciences. During the event, representatives of partner universities discussed prospects for cooperation in higher education, research, and innovation.
On May 21, the Rector of KNU visited Humboldt University in Berlin. During the visit, he was introduced to the university’s facilities, educational programs, and research programs.
During the meeting with the university’s leadership, the possibilities of jointly supervising PhD students, implementing research projects, and organization of internships for PhD students and KNU faculty were touched upon. The parties also agreed to sign a memorandum of cooperation and participate in international research project competitions.
On May 22, a visit was organized to Hanover, where a meeting was held with Professor Georg Guggenberger, Executive Director of the Institute of Soil Science at Leibniz University Hannover. The professor presented information about the institute’s research projects, including internship programs for PhD students.
During the visit, KNU Rector also visited the institute’s experimental test sites and soil research laboratories. The parties also agreed on the key points of the memorandum of cooperation, which includes holding a summer school, developing a new educational program at KNU, and organizing internships for the university’s faculty.
