On October 8, 2026, the Rector of Zhusup Balasagyn Kyrgyz National University, Professor Dogdurbek Chontoev, met with Ms. Kimberly Chilmonik, Director of the Regional English Language Office at the U.S. Embassy.
The parties discussed issues related to improving English language teaching, training teachers through international educational programs, implementing joint projects in the field of education, and strengthening intercultural ties.
The Rector of KNU expressed support for the work of the Office under the U.S. Embassy and cooperation in English language programs, noting that as a result of collaboration between the National University and the U.S. Embassy, university English teachers would have the opportunity to participate in professional development programs.
Dogdurbek Chontoev and Ms. Kimberly Chilmonik also exchanged views on continuing and supporting English language programs at KNU’s regional institutes.
At the end of the meeting, the parties expressed their readiness for practical cooperation in implementing joint initiatives.
The event was attended by Natalia Zhumanalieva, English Language Program Coordinator at the U.S. Embassy in the Kyrgyz Republic; Kunduzgul Bazakeeva, Vice-Rector for Regional Affairs at KNU; and Baktybek Keldibekov, Director of the Department of International Cooperation and Relations.
