From May 25 to 29, 2026 faculty from Kyrgyz National University named after Jusup Balasagyn, led by First Vice-Rector and Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs Alaibek Shamshiev, are on a working visit to Vilnius University. They are participating in training sessions and a Study Tour program at Vilnius University (Lithuania) as part of the international D-TIDE-KG (Digital Transformation for Inclusive Doctoral Education in Kyrgyzstan) project of the European Union’s Erasmus+ program.

Representatives from eight Kyrgyz universities are also participating in the training sessions. The program aims to explore modern approaches to the digitalization of doctoral education, the development of research infrastructure, improving the management of PhD programs, and the integration of digital technologies into the educational process.

During the training seminars, participants are introduced to best international practices in digital administration, scientific communication, and quality assurance in education, as well as modern methods for organizing the educational process and research activities.

Particular attention is paid to the digital transformation of the higher education system, the development of an inclusive approach to research training, and the expansion of international academic cooperation.

During his visit, Alaibek Shamshiev met with the university’s leadership, represented by Rector Rimvydas Petrauskas and Vice-Rector for Cooperation Artūras Vasiliauskas. The parties discussed prospects for academic and scientific cooperation between the two universities and agreed to sign a corresponding memorandum between Vilnius University and Kyrgyz National University. At the end of the meeting, the First Vice-Rector of KNU invited the leadership of Vilnius University to participate in the International Scientific and Practical Conference “Nomadic Civilizations: Heritage, Paradigms, and Prospects”, which will be held in September 2–4, 2026 in Bishkek and Issyk-Kul as part of the VI World Nomad Games.
