On November 25, 2024 the Rector of KNU Dogdurbek Chontoev received a large delegation of the Association for Attracting Foreign Students to Higher Professional Education in Korea, headed by the Head of the International Cooperation Department of the Association, Mr. Cho Hong. In his welcoming speech, he expressed deep gratitude to the Embassy of the Republic of Korea and the Education Center of the Republic of Korea for organizing this visit aimed at strengthening cooperation in the field of education. According to the Rector, more than 100 students study Korean as a linguistic discipline at the Institute of Foreign Languages of KNU, and as a second language at other faculties. The university employs 10 volunteer teachers of the Korean language, selected by the Ministry of Education and the Government of the Republic of Korea.
“Dear guests, I would like to assure you that the doors of our university are always open for cooperation. We are ready to work together with each of the universities in such areas as student exchange, joint research and development of new curricula. I am ready to sign a memorandum of understanding to work for the benefit of our two sovereign states. We look forward to fruitful cooperation with each of you,” — concluded Dogdurbek Chontoev.
The head of the International Cooperation Department of the Association, Mr. Cho Hong, thanked the Rector for the warm welcome and introduced the members of the delegation. Then, he briefly spoke about the Association for Attracting Foreign Students to Higher Professional Education of Korea, which includes 130 universities.
“I think that in the areas that you spoke about, dear Rector, cooperation is possible. By the way, last year 670 students from Kyrgyzstan studied at Korean universities, and this year their number reached 1,300. I think that in 5 years their number will be the same as students from Nepal and Mongolia, i.e. about 15,000.” In conclusion, Mr. Cho Hong said, — “This is our first visit to Kyrgyzstan. Together with the Ministry of Education, we will develop a plan for cooperation with universities in Kyrgyzstan. Thank you again for the reception.”
Vice-Rector for Science Mirlan Dyldaev and Director of the Department of International Cooperation and Relations Bakyt Keldibekov also expressed their proposals for cooperation with the Association.
