On February 13, 2026 Professor Dogdurbek Chontoev, Rector of Kyrgyz National University named after Jusup Balasagyn, met with the parents and students who are traveling to the Republic of Korea for the spring semester on an academic mobility program.
Also the meeting was attended by Aida Ismailova, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kyrgyz Republic to the Republic of Korea (online); Mr. Jo Chan-woo, Director of the Republic of Korea Education Center in Bishkek; Vyacheslav Khan, a 1985 graduate of the National University’s Law School; Victoria Tigay, Vice President of the Public Association of Koreans in the Kyrgyz Republic; and faculty deans.
It is worth noting that, in accordance with academic mobility agreements, this year 26 KNU students will study at leading universities in South Korea during the spring semester: Pai Chai University, Hanbat University, Jeonbuk National University, and the University of Incheon.
Rector Dogdurbek Chontoev congratulated the students on their successful selection and emphasized the importance of academic mobility for improving the quality of education. He also encouraged the students to represent the Kyrgyz Republic, and Kyrgyz National University abroad and to use this opportunity to gain knowledge with an innovative perspective.
Furthermore, it was especially noted that the academic mobility program was organized by the Department of International Cooperation and Relations, which actively develops partnerships with foreign universities, creates opportunities for students to receive an international education, and promotes their intercultural skills.
At the end of the meeting, the participants expressed confidence that the knowledge and experience gained will be an important contribution in the future.
