On December 30, 2025 a working meeting was held between Professor Dogdurbek Chontoev, Rector of Kyrgyz National University named after Jusup Balasagyn, and a delegation from the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS), led by Ms. Li Yang, Deputy Director of the CASS International Cooperation Office.
During the meeting, the organizational and substantive aspects of the visit of the President of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences to the Kyrgyz National University on January 28, 2025, were discussed. Particular attention was paid to the prospects for developing Kyrgyz-Chinese scientific and educational cooperation, expanding academic exchanges, and implementing joint research and expert projects.
Meeting participants noted the high significance of the upcoming visit for strengthening the strategic partnership between the Kyrgyz Republic and the People’s Republic of China and expressed interest in further deepening bilateral cooperation in science, education, and international research. The expected visit of the delegation from the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences to KNU will be an important step in expanding the university’s international cooperation and will open up new opportunities for joint scientific and educational initiatives.
The meeting was attended by Jiao Chen – Third Secretary of the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in the Kyrgyz Republic; Yu Jianfei – Director of the European Section of the International Cooperation Office of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences; Jin Zhe – Deputy Director of the Institute of Russia, Eastern Europe, and Central Asia at the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences; Zhang Qin – Head of the Central Asia and Caucasus Department at the Institute of Russia, Eastern Europe, and Central Asia at the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences; Gulbara Sydykova – Vice-Rector for Investments at KNU; Sofya Apaeva – Director of the Kyrgyz-Chinese Research Institute; Sheradil Baktygulov – Head of the Research Department at the Kyrgyz Institute of International Studies; and Zhyrgal Mombekova – Professor at the Institute of History and Regional Studies.
