On December 24, 2025 the first meeting of the Coordination Council for the Implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) was held at Kyrgyz National University named after Jusup Balasagyn, chaired by Alaibek Shamshiev, First Vice-Rector and Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs.

The event reviewed key regulatory and strategic documents guiding the university’s institutional development in the context of sustainable development. Specifically, the Regulation on the Coordination Council for SDGs at KNU and the Regulation on the Implementation of SDG 4 “Quality of Education” by 2030 were discussed.

K.A. Toktorbaeva, Head of the Department of Strategic Development and SDG Implementation at KNU and Doctor of Economics, Professor, presented a report on monitoring the implementation of the SDGs at KNU and their impact on the university’s position in the QS international rankings.

Particular attention was paid to identifying priority areas for the university’s institutional transformation, including the Green Campus, University 4.0, Inclusive Education, Digital Transformation, and Gender Equality initiatives.

Following the meeting, the annual work plan of the Coordinating Council for the 2025–2026 academic year was approved, and the need to update the KNU Policy on SDG implementation, taking into account current challenges, was noted.
