On December 9, 2025 Alaybek Shamshiev, First Vice-Rector and Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs at Kyrgyz National University named after Jusup Balasagyn, met with Kypros Yorgallis, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Cyprus to the Kyrgyz Republic.
During the meeting, the parties discussed areas of common interest between universities in the Republic of Cyprus and Kyrgyz National University named after Jusup Balasagyn. The Ambassador of Cyprus noted that he would facilitate cooperation between his country’s universities and Kyrgyzstan’s premier university. The First Vice-Rector of the Kyrgyz National University expressed his willingness to establish contacts with the leading university of Cyprus for further collaboration in all areas of educational activity, except for technical ones.
At the end of the meeting, the Ambassador of Cyprus expressed his desire to give a lecture to students of the Kyrgyz National University, and the First Vice-Rector of the Kyrgyz National University supported this idea.
The meeting was also attended by Deputy Head of Mission Vakis Zissimos, Director of the Department of International Cooperation and Relations Bakyt Keldibekov, and Head of the Academic Department Almazbek Kydyraliev.
