On August 14, 2025 Vice-Rector for Research of Kyrgyz National University name after Jusup Balasagyn Myrzabek Kamchybek uulu received co-directors of the Kyrgyz-Japanese Center for Human Development (KRJC) Mr. Tanaka Shinya (from the Japanese side) and Almazbek Azimov (from the Kyrgyz side).
During the meeting, Mr. Tanaka Shinya spoke in detail about the KRJC strategy to improve the position of KNU named after Jusup Balasagyn in the international university ranking QS World University Rankings (QS WUR). The strategy contains specific proposals to improve KNU’s position in the QS WUR according to the following criteria: Academic Reputation, Reputation among employers, Faculty-student ratio, Citations per faculty member, Share of international faculty, Share of international students, International research network, and Employment outcomes.
He also introduced the program of the Academic Forum dedicated to the 100th anniversary of KNU and the 30th anniversary of KRJC. The event is planned to be held on November 12 or 13, 2025, after the completion of the Study in Japan Fair series of events in Central Asia.
KNU Vice-Rector Myrzabek Kamchybek uulu thanked the colleagues for their businesslike approach in preparing the materials, noted the importance of these proposals in improving KNU’s position in the QS World University Rankings and, in turn, made some proposals to optimize the materials of the KRJC representatives.
It should be noted that in 2025, KNU named after Jusup Balasagyn entered the international QS World University Rankings (QS WUR), taking a position in the 1201–1400 range.
