On March 18, 2025 the Rector of KNU, Professor Dogdurbek Chontoev met with the Minister of Culture and Spiritual Development of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) Noev Afanasy Ivanovich. During the meeting, the plan of events that will be held in KNU as part of the Day of Yakut culture in Kyrgyzstan in October of this year was discussed.

Having warmly welcomed the high-ranking guest from the land of frosts, diamonds and unique culture, the Rector of KNU noted that the people of Kyrgyzstan and Sakha (Yakutia) have not only a historical and cultural commonality, they are also united by the personality of Maxim Kirovich Ammosov, who headed the Central Committee of the Kyrgyz Republic from March to November 1937 and made a great contribution to the establishment of a sovereign Kyrgyzstan. Then he said: “The North-Eastern Federal University named after M.K. Ammosov is one of our key partners. In December 2023, our university signed a cooperation agreement. During this time, large-scale joint events were successfully held, and several such events are also planned for 2025. I firmly believe that the results of our cooperation serve the purpose of quality education, development of scientific research, establishment of stable cultural ties not only between our universities, but also between nations,” concluded Dogdurbek Chontoev and invited his guest to the celebration dedicated to the 100th anniversary of KNU in October of this year.

The Minister of Culture and Spiritual Development of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) thanked the Rector for the warm welcome, told about his meetings at the Embassy of the Russian Federation and the Ministry of Culture, Information and Youth Policy of the Kyrgyz Republic and noted that he is proud that the North-Eastern Federal University bears the name of M.K. Ammosov, who contributed to the formation of Kyrgyzstan. “As for the invitation, our delegation will not only participate in the celebrations dedicated to the 100th anniversary of your university but we also plan to hold several events here within the framework of the Days of Yakut culture in Kyrgyzstan, which will also be held in October this year,” said Afanasy Noev. Then, the Rector of KNU presented a two-volume book containing “Materials of the material and spiritual culture of the peoples of Yakutia in the museums of the world (XVII — early XX centuries)”.

The meeting was also attended by: Assistant Minister of Culture and Spiritual Development of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) Ivan Yakovlev, Vice-rector for investments of KNU Gulbara Sydykova, Director of DICR Bakyt Keldibekov, Deputy Director of the Institute of History and Regional Studies Aidar Sheyshenov, coordinator of the Kyrgyz-Yakut Center Anisa Bikbulatova (from KNU) and Daria Sapalova (from NEFU).
