On October 9, 2025, Professor Dogdurbek Chontoev, Rector of Kyrgyz National University named after Jusup Balasagyn, received Nicolas Faye, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the French Republic to the Kyrgyz Republic.
At the meeting, the parties noted the consistent development of Kyrgyz-French relations and discussed cooperation in education.
In turn, Rector Dogdurbek Chontoev extended an invitation to the Ambassador to attend a gala event dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the National University, which will take place later in October of this year.
Furthermore, the parties discussed the opening of a French center at KNU to strengthen bilateral ties. It was noted that such a center will help students learn French, become acquainted with the culture, and improve the qualifications of the teachers, which is of mutual interest.
Finally, Ambassador Nicolas Faye toured the National University.
The meeting was also attended by Vice-Rector for Administrative and Economic Affairs Bakytbek Aytakhunov, Head of the Department of International Cooperation and Relations Baktybek Keldibekov, Dean of the Kyrgyz-European Faculty Medina Nukeeva, and Head of the French Language Department Maria Akchekeeva.
