On June 4, 2026 Professor Dogdurbek Chontoev, Rector of Kyrgyz National University named after Jusup Balasagyn, received Mr. Saito Taro, a member of the Board of Directors of the Japanese company Sugamo Tokiwa Shokudo.
During the meeting, the parties exchanged views on personnel training, educational program development, cultural exchange, and strengthening cooperation between the two countries.
The Rector expressed gratitude to the Japanese company’s representatives for supporting the Kyrgyz-Japanese Institute of KNU (KJI) as a partner and noted the Japanese company’s contribution to improving the educational environment for students and developing the Japanese language. He noted that the inclusion of Sugamo Tokiwa Shokudo representatives on the KJI Board of Trustees symbolizes a high level of trust and opens new opportunities for long-term cooperation between KNU and the Japanese business community. Concluding his speech, the Rector expressed his readiness to collaborate with the Japanese company.
Mr. Saito Taro, a member of the Board of Directors of Sugamo Tokiwa Shokudo, announced that starting this year, students from the Kyrgyz-Japanese Institute of KNU will be accepted for internships in Japan. KNU students will have the opportunity to experience Japanese food culture, service standards, and work ethic firsthand.
Also the meeting was attended by Ms. Kuji Hitomi, General Advisor of Sugamo Tokiwa Shokudo, and Takahara Daisuke, Director of the Kyrgyz-Japanese Institute of KNU.
