As part of the Cooperation Agreement signed by the Ministers of Education of the Kyrgyz Republic and the Republic of Azerbaijan in 2024, a delegation from Kyrgyz National University named after Jusup Balasagyn, led by its Rector, Professor Dogdurbek Chontoev, arrived in the Republic of Azerbaijan.
On February 18, 2026 KNU delegation held an official meeting with Elchin Safarali oglu Babayev, Rector of Baku State University (Bakı Dövlət Universiteti).
During the meeting, issues related to the development of bilateral cooperation in higher education were discussed, and views were exchanged on expanding academic mobility, implementing student and faculty exchange programs, introducing dual diploma programs, and conducting joint research. The delegation members also toured the facilities of Baku State University and received information about the educational process and research infrastructure. During the visit, KNU Rector Dogdurbek Chontoev also gave a guest lecture to students at Baku State University.
The official delegation included Dooron Kubatbek uulu, Chief of Staff of the Rector’s Office, and Nuriza Musayeva, Director of the Higher School of Economics.
The visit aims to strengthen the strategic partnership between the two universities and further expand international cooperation in education.
