On February 25, 2025 Mr. Nicolas Faye, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the French Republic to the Kyrgyz Republic, visited KNU. The permanent diplomatic representative of the Western European state was received by the Rector of KNU Dogdurbek Chontoev.
He warmly welcomed the distinguished guest and noted — “Your visit is very important for us. This meeting will be another important step towards the further development of our cooperation in education, science and culture.” Further, Dogdurbek Chontoev thanked Mr. Nicolas Faye for his initiatives and support for educational cooperation and said: “We are ready to promote the development of French language teaching, we also support active participation in the Erasmus program and the idea of opening an information spot for students.”
“Six months have passed since our last meeting,” the French Ambassador began his speech. “And today I would like to discuss three key issues with you: cooperation in the field of teaching French, university partnership between our countries and scientific cooperation. I would also like to sincerely thank you for keeping to your word and providing the opportunity to study several subjects. This will greatly help in developing the teaching of French.”
During the meeting, the parties also discussed the issues of allocating classrooms for teaching French in the evening and one office for the French Alliance, as well as the upcoming visit of the delegation of the University of Paris together with a representative of the Sorbonne. The meeting was also attended by: Cultural Attaché Etienne Lancelot, Director of the French Institute for Central Asian Studies Marie Favreau, Director of the French Alliance Begayim Israilova, Press Attaché Guzel Ishenova, Intern of the French Embassy Sarah Wilpott, as well as Director of the Department of International Cooperation and Relations Bakyt Keldibekov, and Deputy Dean of the Faculty of European Studies Aigerim Satybaldieva.
