On February 18, 2025 representatives of the World Bank Mission visited KNU. At the meeting with representatives of the National University, the implementation of the WB project “National Center/Hub in Water Research” was discussed.
Opening the meeting, Vice-Rector for Research Mirlan Dyldaev noted that within the framework of the mentioned project, under the patronage of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Kyrgyz Republic, it is planned to open a “National Center of Excellence in Water Resources Research” at KNU, where scientific research will be conducted and personnel will be trained corresponding the demand of the modern labor market.
Then, he gave the floor to Damira Ashiralieva, Senior Lecturer of the Department of General Biology and Laboratory Science of the Faculty of Biology, to present the Strategic Plan for the Development of the National Center of Excellence (CPE) in Water Resources Research.
She spoke about the mission, goals and objectives of the CPE being created, as well as the necessary equipment for it. According to her, after the opening of the CPO, an effective system for monitoring and analyzing water resources and adjacent ecosystems will be created, and specialists in innovative technologies, consulting and dissemination of best practices in the field of water resources research, etc. will be trained.
The discussion of this plan was attended by the World Bank Senior Economist and Head of the Project Group Mr. Shiro Nakata, the WB Mission Coordinator Gulmira Sultanova, the Rector of KNU Dogdurbek Chontoev, the Vice-Rector for Research Mirlan Dyldaev and the Dean of the Faculty of Biology Shafika Suleimanova.
