On April 16, 2026 the mining industry forum “Leadership Strategy in the New Reality”, organized by the Union of Subsoil Users of the Kyrgyz Republic, was held at Kyrgyzaltyn JSC.

The event was attended by Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers – Minister of Water Resources, Agriculture, and Processing Industry of the Kyrgyz Republic E. Akunbekov, Minister of Natural Resources, Ecology, and Technical Supervision of the Kyrgyz Republic A. Toktobaev, representatives of the Ministry of Finance of the Kyrgyz Republic, the Ministry of Economy and Commerce of the Kyrgyz Republic, as well as the management of Kyrgyzaltyn JSC, Kumtor Gold Company CJSC, Altyn Ken LLC, Altyn Alliance LLC, Eti Bakyr Tereksai LLC, representatives of the scientific community, and heads of leading universities.

Forum participants discussed a wide range of issues in detail, including improving the efficiency of natural resource management, implementing international environmental standards, developing technological and digital solutions in the extractive industry, and prospects for developing a unified strategy for the sustainable development of the mining sector through 2035. Particular attention was paid to enhancing the industry’s investment attractiveness and the rational use of the country’s mineral resource base.

Professor Dogdurbek Chontoev, Rector of Kyrgyz National University named after Jusup Balasagyn, delivered a report at the session “Science and Innovation in Subsoil Use”. He noted that Kyrgyz National University named after Jusup Balasagyn positions itself as a strategic partner for the state in implementing the SDGs. The National University is participating in the strategic project “Quality and Innovation in Higher Education”, which is being implemented with the support of the World Bank and the International Development Association. As part of this project, a Center for Research and Innovation in Water, Chemical, and Environmental Safety has been established. The center will actively participate in the study of areas adjacent to mining operations, including the analysis of surface and groundwater pollution, the assessment of toxic element migration, and the negative impact on the environment and public health.

Following the discussion on human resource potential, which is a key area of ​​industry development, the management of Kyrgyzaltyn JSC signed a memorandum of cooperation in personnel training with leading universities in the republic: KNU named after J. Balasagyn, I. Razzakov KSTU, and B. Yeltsin KRSU.

The document provides for the organization of targeted training for students in relevant fields, on-the-job training and internships at Kyrgyzaltyn JSC facilities, and the participation of company specialists in educational processes.
