On February 18, 2026 Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Korea to the Kyrgyz Republic, Mr. Kim Kwang-jae, visited KNU and participated in the celebration of Seollal, the Korean Lunar New Year, one of the most important holidays in Korea.

Myrzabek Kamchybek uulu, Vice-Rector for Research, opened the event with a welcoming speech.

Korean Ambassador to Kyrgyzstan Mr. Kim Kwang-jae noted that KNU students demonstrate a good level of Korean language proficiency and actively participate in events organized by the Embassy. “I want them to continue to improve their Korean language skills and contribute to the development of friendly relations between the Kyrgyz Republic and the Republic of Korea,” Mr. Kim Kwang-jae concluded.

During the celebration, students of the Faculty of International Relations and Oriental Studies and the Institute of Foreign Languages ​​studying Korean, performed dances, a presentation of  “Seollal”, a “Sebae” bow in honor of the New Year, and a sing-along of the Korean song “Kaptori and Kapsuni”.

The event concluded with a group performance of “Seollal”.

  • Director of the Sarang Global Academy, Daniel Kwak
  • Badminton coach, Kim Yang-hyun.

The event was hosted by Bakyt Kelibekov, Director of the Department of International Cooperation and Relations.
