On January 23, 2026 an information seminar on the Horizon Europe program was held in the National University’s large assembly hall. The event was attended by scientists, young researchers, and members of the public interested in international scientific and innovative cooperation.

Opening the meeting, Professor Dogdurbek Chontoev, Rector of the National University, noted that high-level cooperation between the Kyrgyz Republic and the European Union is underway to implement programs aimed at strengthening scientific potential in education and creating opportunities for joint scientific research.

«Kyrgyz National University named after Jusup Balasagyn actively participates in scientific and innovative initiatives and views the exchange of best international practices as a strategic focus», the rector said.

During the seminar, Manfred Spiesberger, an expert from the European Union’s Global Service Center, presented information on the structure and main areas of the Horizon Europe program, its financial and organizational aspects, mechanisms for finding international partners, and prospects for developing cooperation.

The program included presentations on promoting sustainable energy, strengthening regional cooperation, and empowering communities. Participants who had previously participated in the projects shared their successes and experiences.

The seminar concluded with the presentation of certificates to active participants, and project coordinator and Director of the Kyrgyz National Museum, Jyldyz Bakashova, encouraged every researcher to participate in scientific competitions. The seminar was organized by the National Coordination Center of the Global Service Facility with the support of the European Union.
