On October 27, 2025 an online meeting was held between Professor Dogdurbek Chontoev, Rector of Kyrgyz National University named after Jusup Balasagyn, and Mr. Shin Il Hee, President of Keimyung University (Republic of Korea). Representatives of Keimyung University, who had previously arrived in KNU to participate in the celebrations dedicated to the National University’s 100th anniversary, also attended the event.
KNU Rector Dogdurbek Chontoev warmly welcomed the meeting participants. He expressed deep gratitude to Mr. Shin Il Hee and his entire team for their fruitful collaboration, attention, and ongoing support. The Rector noted that, as part of the LUPIC partnership project, Kyrgyz National University received 43 computers, nine interactive panels, and student scholarships established in honor of the KNU Rector.
Dogdurbek Chontoev further noted that the Ministry of Education of the Kyrgyz Republic had decided to award Mr. Shin Il Hee a medal for his special contribution to the development of education and international cooperation and presented it to Ms. Kim Sung-Jung, Vice President for International Relations at Keimyung University.
Following the meeting, a scholarship award ceremony was held for students of Kyrgyz National University named after Jusup Balasagyn in the large assembly hall.
Furthermore, the Kyrgyz-Korean Center (Room No. 215) was officially opened at KNU. It will host classes for schoolchildren as part of the LUPIC project, aimed at developing digital and educational skills among young people.
At the end of the ceremony, participants planted a friendship tree as a symbol of the strong ties between the Kyrgyz National University and Keimyung University, as well as the fraternal relations between the peoples of Kyrgyzstan and the Republic of Korea.
The parties expressed confidence in further strengthening their partnership, developing joint educational and research projects, and expanding academic exchanges between the two universities.
Participating in the events were Min Kyung-mo – Dean of the International Office at Keimyung University; Joo Hong-taek – Director of the LUPIC-Kyr Center; Park Sung-jin – Head of the Asian Region of the International Office; Yoon Joon-young – Coordinator of the International Relations and Administrative Office of LUPIC-Kyr; Kim Dae-eun – Coordinator of the International Relations Office; Yoo Moon-ki – Head of the International Cooperation Office; and Yoo Min-sik – Coordinator of the International Cooperation Office.
